| 5 years of fundraising to Find a Cure for Diabetes |
The team at CUBED are very proud of our founding partners Mike & Kim. A couple of weeks back they dedicated their weekend to a slog up the tormentingly steep hills and scorching hot heat of the Barossa Valley. It was a fund raising ride, and all in the name of a charity they have been proud supporters of for many years – The Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF). JDRF is the world’s largest charitable supporter of type 1 diabetes research, a very important cause given that in Australia there are more than 120,000 sufferers of the disease.
So, we’d like to extend a huge thank you to all our clients, staff, friends and supplier partners who recently sponsored the CUBED Campaigners for a Cure bike riding team for their 2011 ride around the Barossa Valley. CUBED have been fund raising for the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation for 5 years now to help fund research to find a cure for Type 1 diabetes. Over the 5 years, CUBED Campaigners for a Cure have ridden a combined total of over 3000 kms, walked over 250kms, cooked over 24 hours of sausage sizzles and eaten countless jelly babies….all in the name of fund raising.
Founding Partners Kim McDonnell and Mike Chuter were inducted into the JDRF Foundation Cycling Club and presented with commemorative plaques in recognition of their ongoing support. After the 2011 ride Kim McDonnell commented “80kms ride through the hills of the Barossa valley in 34 degree heat is tough, but not as tough as having to cope with the disease. The money we raise is well worth the pain”
